Frequently Asked Questions

What is your nutrition philosophy?
I use a direct, yet gentle approach when helping my clients navigate food. It is my hope that my clients will learn how to properly nourish their bodies by consuming balanced nutrition that is realistic and appropriate for their individual needs. I educate clients on intuitive eating(when appropriate), and I always encourage clients to choose foods that genuinely sound appetizing to them to help them re-discover their true likes and dislikes. I use a non-diet approach and view all foods as neutral, rather than good versus bad, and I encourage mindfulness when making food choices and eating. Clients are encouraged to try to begin the process of connecting with their bodies by assessing their hunger and satiety cues.  It is my hope that my clients will be able to see for themselves that food can be pleasurable and fun. I feel that it is not only important to improve our physical health, but also to work to re-develop a healthy relationship with food.

Do you provide clients with meal plans?
Most clients will receive a meal plan that is tailored to their individual needs. I always involve the client in this process and I believe it is crucial to create a meal plan that is realistic for them.  During our follow-up sessions, we may make changes to the meal plan to insure that it continues to be realistic for you.

I do not have an eating disorder. Do you work with clients who do not have an eating disorder?
Although I have several years experience working with eating disorders and disordered eating, I also have experience working with other clients' nutrition-related concerns as well. Click HERE if you're interested in knowing the areas I specialize in.

How do I know if we will be a good fit to work together?
Prior to booking your initial consultation, I encourage you to call or email me to discuss your specific needs and ask me any questions you feel would be relevant in determining whether or not you would like to work with me. I am happy to do this free of charge for up to 15 minutes.

How long should I expect to work with you?
This varies depending on the client and their needs. After your initial consultation, you will not be pressured into booking more sessions unless you feel that would be helpful. However, if you see the benefit in continuing to work with me, you can save money by booking (4) 30 minute follow-ups and getting your 5th session free. It is most common for clients to meet with me weekly for the first month, and then re-evaluate from there. 60 minute follow-up sessions are also available.

Do you take insurance?

I currently accept BCBS and Health Net insurance plans in the state of California. If you do not have one of these insurance plans,  I can provide you with a superbill with appropriate medical coding in hopes that your insurance may reimburse you for my services. If finances are a concern, I offer 30-minute follow-up sessions that are more affordable.
